How We Got Started
As a young girl I was fascinated with the Australian Shepherd. I grew up with mostly Labradors but I knew someday I would get my blue Merle dream dog. Shortly after my husband and I were married my sister was tragically killed. We did not yet own any dogs together but we both knew a dog would help me to heal and cope through the loss. My husband had always wanted a chocolate Labrador but due to our circumstances at the time we couldn’t have that big of a dog and ultimately my husband wanted to get me the dog of my dreams. We compromised by getting a red tri Miniature Aussie. I named him Ziek (Zeke) keeping with the name and spelling I had held onto all those years since I was a child.
Ziek is quite the interesting character. Since day one he has been the most vocal dog I’ve ever owned, and I have owned hound dogs. He is full of sass and lets you know exactly what he’s thinking. We love him dearly. He is such a strong character and personality. He is definitely the most difficult dog we have ever had the privilege to own. He has taught both my husband and I many things and we wouldn’t trade him for the world. He is my heart dog and he has worked tremendously hard to heal me from my loss. But I knew I was not going to stop with just one.
I was going to get my blue Merle dream puppy someday and I already had an amazing breeder picked out. As much as we love him, we knew we could not have another dog with as much spunk as Ziek. We wanted mellow and easy going this time. So next came Kyroh. I picked him out the day he was born. He was absolutely everything I had imagined as a girl. We used my other childhood name and kept the spelling as well. After forming a friendship with Kyroh’s breeder she entrusted me with his breeding rights. And that is where our breeding adventures began.
